Spring 2026, Issue 26-1

The first GS4S newsletter of 2026 is now available! In this preantepenultimate issue we provide a report on the March webinar “After the Vote”, summarize the IOM/World Bank joint webinar on retinking skills-based labor mobility, and recap GS4S podcast #4 on rethinking skills-based labor mobility. Contents provide information about the hybrid event on 13 May providing insights from the 2025 GS4S survey across multiple countries and industries.

Fianlly, we look to the furture and the joint final conference with Skills4Life and Skills4Justice on 29 October, 2026 in Brussels.

Summer 2025, Issue 25-2

While summer is here, GS4S activities continue at full speed across  research and stakeholder engagement in support of skills development and migration policy alignment. In this edition of the GS4S newsletter, we review our midterm policy brief presenting 20 concrete policy recommendations for tackling skills shortages in the EU and beyond,
and delve into “Efforts to Tackle Skills Shortages Across Policy  Domains” with a presentation of our working paper #8. We will report on GS4S’ participation in the 2025 IMISCOE Annual Conference on
“Decentering Migration Studies”, and invite our audience to tune into Podcast #3, “Global Mobility Schemes”.

Spring 2025, Issue 25-1

The Spring, 2025 GS4S newsletter is here! In the first issue of the year, we review new working papers that have been published and available on Zenodo, GS4S co-principal investigator Tesseltje de Lange’s guest appearance on the award winning podcast “Borders and Belonging”, and the Migration Observatory 9th Annual Conference co-sponsored by GS4S partners Centro Studi Luca d’Agliano and FIERI. Later this year, we will host the GS4S Policy Conference that will provide and in-depth presentation of GS4S’ primary research findings.

Winter 2024, Issue 24-2

Welcome to the Winter, 2024 edition of the GS4S newsletter. In this issue we highlight the achievements made in our first year of operations including making significant strides in fostering dialogue and contributing to informed policymaking around critical issues in migration and skills shortages within the EU and beyond; presenting before the European and Dutch Parliaments; hosting a thought-provoking webinar examining the migration corridor between Bangladesh and Italy to shed light on its complexities and opportunities, and our podcast series has been launched.
